A good "value" tablet
By Amy J Kirk
I wasn't expecting much at this price. I've some experience with technology and tablets, and the price was very low. Purchase was a gift for my youngest children (9 and 7, one for each).
The display has good color and viewing angle, 5-points capacitive touchscreen - sensitivity was a little off, but not so you couldn't get used to it and it can be adjusted. Acceleration sensor lags a little, but works (this is what rotates the screen when you turn the tablet). Google Play and Flash Player were preinstalled which saved me having to fiddle with trying to find firmware that gives what we want, which as those weren't promised in the description I figured I would have to do. Onboard storage is very low, but this (4.0) build of Android allows you to move most apps to sdcard. SDCard is supported, and I bought a 16GB model microSDHC card which works fine. A USB 2 Go cable was included in the box, as well as a USB cable to attach your PC. Audio quality with headphones is good and without, good enough. Build seems stout enough for the kids, but time will tell.
The cameras work. Netflix works. Angry Birds StarWars works great. Minecraft too. Videos, music, YouTube are all fine. Hulu didn't work, but they claim to be working on it. Battery life is OK but not stellar, maybe 4-6 hours of gaming. Websites all look like you would expect, and load plenty fast. eBooks are fine. Managed Google Drive and Docs just fine. WiFi works fine for home, but lacks some security features I would need at the office.
You're not going to be doing any multitasking with this thing. The processor just doesn't have the horsepower. If you're used to the latest gear, this is not going to impress you. I doubt it will ever see an OTA update to the OS.
I was amazed however to have such high quality fairly modern technology in a device with a price this low. Particularly that 720p video was so smooth, the touchscreen so responsive. It's not an iPad mini nor a Nexus 7. But for a budget tablet at this price I found it lacking nothing. If this is what you have to spend, this tablet is about as good as you are going to get in December 2012. Bonus: the kids prefer this form-factor to my 10" tablet, which I will now not have to fight them for every day. They say it's more the right size for them.
I'm giving it five stars not for being the all-time WunderTab, but rather for being exceedingly great value for money, having no show-stoppers, under-promising and over-delivering (Flash Player and Google Play, USB2Go). I would even give this brand another go, with dual-core 10 inch tabs next year.

Good but apparently incompatible with Kindle app
By dsm_la
Got this as a gift for my 8 year old. Just setting it up. Really surprisingly good. Pretty fast, screen is fine, does (almost) everything I wanted it to do.
One problem I've found though is that it is apparently incompatible with the Kindle for Android app. It installs fine but books show up as blank pages. Contacted Kindle/Amazon support, which was actually impressively responsive, only to be told (after two chat sessions and a phone call) that the app is incompatible with the device. Says otherwise on Play, but whatever. Will keep the tablet and use other eReaders, but still a bit of a drag.

Love it!

Have had my Matrix for the past week and can not put it down. Great picture and it also has two cameras. Going to buy one for my husband for his birthday next month.
