5Love my HP tablet.
By Olivier Labrie
I never really care for Android devices. I'm a hardcore Microsoft user and have used 3rd party cheap android tablet that never ever meet my expectation.
I receive this HP Slate 7 inches as a gift. I checked online and its a relatively cheap tablet and I wasn't expecting much from it. I started using it and I was caught by it.... it is pretty fast and accurate. The storage is expandable with an additional 32GB and 1.6Ghz Dual Core processor make everything pretty smooth.... The tablet feel like a strong device that will not fall apart easily,

The cameras are not a very good quality but I do not use them and they aren't affecting my score.

The audio is great with headset. The embedded speakers are tablet speakers and they deliver what they can.

The size of the tablet is perfect to be used vertical. Not too wide... just like a big cell phone.

2misplaced anticipation
By David R. Mullins
I purchased this tablet out of enthusiasm for it's built in Beats Audio. While it does have Beats Audio built in, it is a very limited feature. The overall movement through the tablet is very smooth. However, I noticed early on that what should be beautiful HD graphics were grainy and down right ugly. I usually get nice photos on my Facebook wall. On my HP laptop, and my Samsung tablet the photos look beautiful, but on the Slate 7 the pictures are terrible. That was my first concern.

Second concern, the Slate 7 didn't come with a built in video player. The primary reason I started using a tablet, was to be able to watch movies and tv shows while walking on the treadmill. I downloaded a video player from Google Play and installed it. The Slate 7 did okay on some lower definition cartoons, but when I tried playing higher definition video it really struggled. It would either get all locked up and have distorted images, or would just have sub-par picture, similar to my reference to the photos above. I will attempt to try other video players, but I do not have high hopes any longer. Needless to say, my Samsung still went with me to the treadmill today.

4HP Slate 7: the first Android tablet of this brand
By Claudiu Petru Narita
I have tested the Slate 7, an economic system with which HP is entering the market for 7 inch tablets .

A few days ago, I have received the Slate 7, the first tablet with Android operating system from HP, after its failure with WebOS and the HP Touchpad. With this product, the brand tries to take market to other companies positioned with economic tablets of 7 inches.

This terminal has positive elements that can lead to buy it, including the price.

OUTSIDE

Tablet, unlike the others, has an easy grip for the user and unlikely to be dropped out of hand. The material used by HP is a kind of rubber that is liked by people, not only by the color gray, but for the feeling when holding the device.

To the grip factor we have to ad the weight of the product, its 328 grams help the user to enjoy the product for a period of time, without implying an effort complicated or difficult.

The item only has three buttons, one to turn on, turn off and lock the device, and the other two for the volume. It also has a MicrosSD card reader, Jack 3.5 mm connector and a microphone. It also has two stereo speakers and micro USB port.

INSIDE

This tablet, online as mentioned above, with 4.1.1 OS Android Jelly Bean, is ideal for those who do not like the custom equipment. When turned on, the menu is almost the same as the Android, except HP ePrint and Beats Audio.

In short, the user itself, not the brand, you can customize and add the applications you want for your tablet. Moreover, it is not necessary to have root acces in order to remove any program that the user's don't like.

CAMERA

Like the vast majority of tablets, camera, despite having two, is a disappointment for the user. If you have a commitment you need to register, be sure to bring a camera or camera phone with a good resolution, because this tablet will not help .

HP did not want to invest technology and/or money to the two chambers. Although the primary is 3.15 megapixels, the pictures taken with the tablet are a tear to the user. Even worst with VGA front camera.

The camera, to be simple, is exactly as it came from Google, contains only basic options like auto, incandescent, daylight, fluorescent and cloudy . If you want to edit photos, some Play Store applications will be of much use.

A similar situation occurs with video recording. The image quality improved by having VGA resolution. However, it is not recommended to record with this tablet.

PERFORMANCE

The ARM Cortex A9 dual core is running at 1.6 GHz to enjoy the device without problems. To do this, we tried to have multiple applications open simultaneously and did not observe any significant slowdown .

Games like Dead Trigger render normally on the tablet, even if you have open other important applications or medium difficulty. However, I have downloaded and play Rush or Minion Despicable Me, and noticed a type of slow, even if it is the only important application that is open.

SCREEN

This Slate 7 has a 7-inch screen with a resolution type HFFS Basic 1024×600 pixels, which, indeed, is something far away from other recognized tablet, but for the price is acceptable.

I will give a rating arround 3,8 stars but I have to choose betwee the round numbers :(

The good thing about this screen is his 16:9 aspect can be seen day and night with the same image resolution. If you get closer, you will notice that it lacks definition, but the sensitivity is very good, responding correctly.

AUDIO

One of the positive elements of this handset is that it comes with Beats Audio, so the sound is very good and no problems listening to any music.

By default, you have to use Google Music as a music player, which can upset like many others has shown some problems in recent months. Yes, it is compatible with most audio proprietary extensions .

Will I recommend it? Yes, the product is positive and, except an application, not a problem of 'lag ' or slowdown .

Will I buy it? Yes, their price ranges in good rates and comparing with other brand products known and unknown it is a good deal, the HP Slate 7 presents as recommended by cost/benefit.
