RESEARCH FIRST
By Marvin
I bought this tablet because it was very cheap. Considering this, I knew it wouldn't be the greatest thing out there. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied. I've been doing actual school work on it, watching videos in HD 720p 1080p and 2K without any flaws, playing some 3D games, streaming over WIFI. If you're an advanced user and aren't afraid to get dirty and want a cheap hacking platform then I recommend this. If you want something that just works with minimal effort and aren't concerned with price, then I recommend that you get a more commercialized product.
WARNING: DO NOT USE THE INCLUDED CHARGER ANYMORE! The charger was engineered with CHEAP in mind. The power output is not 5V at 2A when charging and the power output is very dirty. When charging, you may notice the screen is kinda fading or blurry kinda or the sound when playing music has background noise. I recommend that you find a good 5V 2A wall wart and cut the wires from the original charger and attach them to the better wall wart. (BE MINDFUL OF THE POLARITY FOR THE 2 WIRES)(I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU MESS THIS UP)
Specs:
Brand: CHINESE NO NAME (Tagital is a rebrander)
Model Number: A70X
Android Version: 4.2.2
CPU: Dual Core Allwinner A20 1.2GHz based on ARM Cortex-A7
GPU: Quad Core Mali-400
RAM: 386MB (my phone also says that it's 512MB but only 3** only show up but is fast so this isn't too much a concern)
Ports: USB(host), mini USB(slave), mini HDMI, 3.5mm Headphone Jack, micro SD slot, 5volt barrel connector(for charging)
sensors: 2-axis accelerometor, microphone
screen: 7 inch 1024x600 physical pixels (it does some weird upscaling from 640x480 but doesn't affect quality)
touchscreen: 5-point capacitive
Internal memory: 4GB (partitioned into 2GB system 2GB internal storage)
Camera: I see no difference with the quality of front and rear... 0.3MP front 2MP rear(apparently)
Wireless: WIFI 802.11 b/g/n
Battery: 2500mAh (this may vary)
FOR PEOPLE WHO COMPLAIN IT IS SLOW: the particular ROM of Android that the manufacturer installed uses a lot of RAM on its own, so there isn't much space to run other apps.
(I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU MESS THIS UP)
I can't really complain because of the price but it is a bit slow, so here's what I did to fix it.
1st: connect it with my Google account
2nd: turn on USB debugger connect to Linux/WindowsPC and root this baby (IMPORTANT)
2.5(Optional step): install a custom ROM that suits your needs. I picked a bare bones ROM to counteract the small RAM.
3rd: fix the battery calibration issue with an app
4th: cut it down (remove bloat and other useless things)
5th: install CPU Tuner and your other favorite toolbox apps and disable some unnecessary start up programs
6th: install whatever you want/enjoy!
I also took it apart the first night I got it. Inside there is some BGA soldered RAM, I might replace it and re-flow in bigger RAM chips. There are empty pads for another flash memory chip beside the 4GB NAD flash chip, I will probably reflow in another chip and also upgrade the 4GB into something bigger. There is also empty solder pads for where they planned to put a vibrate motor, i'm definately gonna do this; just surface mount a transistor, resistor and capacitor. I think I also remember seeing an unpopulated spot for a gyroscope. I will contact the actual manufacturers to possibly get a schematic of the entire mother board. The wifi module is soldered to on board USB pads(you can improve the antenna). I might add a USB hub, bluetooth, and bigger battery(when the stock 2000mAH LiPoly goes bad).
Hopefully my University will let me use their BGA rework station otherwise i'm going to be soldering with hot air and solder paste.

A GREAT TABLET PACKED WITH FEATURES!
By Thomas Grillo
I have a couple of other tablets that run Android. This one has a very nice screen which seems very evenly lit. Could stand to be just a wee bit brighter, but certainly viewable in most lighting conditions.
I like the front / rear cameras. Very handy. Nice to be able to take pictures when on the go, or use the rear cam for communications.
The touch screen is very responsive.
The file management feature is nice, and easy to navigate.
I like the location of the micro SD card slot. Easier to insert and extract than on my other tablets.
The HDMI port is a real plus, in that you can connect to a tv, or monitor, and watch videos or show pictures.
This tablet even came with a mini USB port which is easier to use than those tinny razor thin micro USB ports I've seen showing up on so many products lately.
It also features a host port which can be very useful.
The back shell is made of plastic, but over all, it feels sturdy, and NOT cheap.
The microphone appears to be built into the back-shell, facing away from you, but that's actually a good thing in the case of shooting video of your trip, or events.
The built in flash / vid light is a nice feature too.
Wish I'd gone with this one first.
