By Jeremy Buckley
I really wanted to like this tablet, especially since I had an employee discount. Overall, it's a nice little unit. It's well-built, has MicroSD expansion and two cameras, two important features I was looking for. The screen is so-so, as others have pointed out. But the real deal breaker for me is that it apparently does not support OTG USB for loading files from external USB devices. I wanted to be able to load pictures directly from my camera or SD card to the tablet. If this feature isn't important to you, the tablet is an excellent value. But I may send it back and look at the Galaxy Tab 3.

By Rick
I didn't buy my Tablet 7 from Amazon but thought I'd leave a review anyway. It's a fairly well made item and does a reasonable job of Skype, playing YouTube videos and showing pictures to friends, but web browsing can be absolutely maddening.
The first problem isn't with the device itself but with the web browsers. Most websites are so full of advertising links it's nearly impossible to scroll downward without inadvertently opening a link and going to another website. If developers would create a browser with permanently visible scroll bars down the side and across the bottom, it would eliminate this problem.
The second problem is with the device - the multi-touch zoom feature is way too sensitive. As I'm scrolling through web pages, nearly half of all downward swipes will zoom the screen in as if I'm using two fingers. I'm constantly having to zoom back out. I bought a stylus to see if it would help but it's actually worse! There seems to be no way to turn multi-touch off, or reduce the sensitivity.
I'd like to love this product but so far it's just been a frustrating experience.

10/24/2013 Update:
I've had this tablet now for four months and I thought I should update my original review. Although the comments above are still valid, I have a few kinder words for it after a few months use. It's a nice Kindle reader - you can increase / decrease the backlighting and the app features work well on the Slate. I've used it to Skype quite a bit and it does a descent job. My son said I appeared a bit grainy at his end, but the ease of use balances that out (fast and easy connections). As a camera, the images aren't great quality, but it's a tablet! The three camera settings (still, video, and panoramic) are easy to switch between and there's practically no lag time - and the panoramic mode is rather fun. The battery life is Ok - unless you have Bluetooth turned on (which burns through a charge rather quickly).
Overall, it's a well made device and with patience you can find the right apps that work well with it.

This tablet is a steal at 140 bucks. Never been a fan of HP but this is a quality Product. Bought this for my kid. If I was purchasing for myself as a professional I would purchase the newest version of the Nexus 7 for another hundred bucks.
Pros-
Watches movies flawlessly
Surfs internet wonderfully anywhere in the house
Plays all the games and runs any apps you wish
Google Play Access < This is a deal breaker if a tablet doesn't have access to Google Play its worthless in my opinion.
Great Cameras front and back
Cosmetically appealing
They are giving them away for free at this price
SD card slot < Also a deal breaker without this.
Battery life is roughly 6 hours with WiFi OFF.
Genuine Jelly Bean Android with the least amount of pre-installed bloatware garbage I have ever seen on anything.
Screens Beautiful I have no idea what people are saying about the display sure its not an Apple retina screen but you want that go pay the ghost of Steve Jobs 700 bucks so you can what? I don't know watch Iron Man on an airplane on a 7 inch screen in visual perfection? Who cares? The screen is great by any standard for a portable book/web surfer/movie player/whatever else you are doing with a tablet.
Cons-
I would have increased the price 10 bucks and made it 2 gigs of memory if I was designing it, it runs graphic intensive apps acceptably but 2 gigs would have made this a tablet that would have set industry standards for price and performance.
Battery Life is Roughly 3.5 hours with WiFi ON. (You can see in the battery monitor WiFi increases battery consumption ~ 40 percent when its on)
